Maybe go straight to their favourite bar/pub, on their way home from work – the 5 o’clock club.
I spent two decades of my life around such people, some, friends, others, “Pub Associates”.
It’s clear now, using alcohol & other activities as I had.
To deal with my emotions & life, was always going to be disastrous.
At the time, I understood what I was doing, and change didn’t interest me.
Besides, it beat the alternatives, running around out of control in my head.
What is it that makes you want to drink after a day at the office, in meetings, around people you put up with?

Someone else said this to a bar person, after his stressful day.
I also witnessed him, completely ignore a friend he’d known for years, because now, he was a DRUNK.
I’d stopped drinking and judging at this point.
I was observing what was happening in front of me.
I said – You have no intention of stopping, do you.
Unfortunately, he smiled.
There is a definite pecking order of acceptable “addictions”, along with a sliding scale of who’s behaving in an unacceptable way.
Is it not the same, as the guy who plays 18 holes of golf, adding, just a further 9.
Because the other guys were a player short?
Then visits the 19th hole, before going home to his family at 9pm – must be his
of golf.
This is the same person, who must practice at the range on his way home, and is likely on the committee.
Is it GOLF he has an issue with?
Could he be suffering in some way, distracting himself, stressed, and feels better, more like himself.
When he’s on his way to the golf club, or range, to hit little white balls with his mates?
When it comes to “Addiction” or preferably, Compulsive Behaviours, there is a complete lack of understanding.
