It’s GREAT YOU UNDERSTAND… because… there’s ABSOLUTELY NOTHING… YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.

My father (business partner) said this to another partner, after he’d been complaining again about my “absence”.

This was nothing new, it’d basically always been this way.

Unless there was something in it for them.

You might think that someone you know, a business partner for instance, almost dying.

Would change your attitude in some way.

I’d been drinking heavily, travelling, buying anything & everything, to deal with them and life for well over twenty years.

It’s the only way I knew how & I did enjoy it.

I’d also experienced so much loss in life, too many people and things I ❀️ were gone.

This wasn’t happening again, I would not lose my business, be forced out.

Eventually I’d completely disintegrate, displaying all my unhealthiest personality traits.

Break down mentally & physically, collapse, and end up in an ICU barely alive.

After this, I’d have a “Quantum Leap” experience.

Create a new life, construct & reconstruct relationships, become fit/healthy again, and start truly enjoying life.

Living with awareness, taking off the mask, I’d rarely removed, and decide what was truly important to me.

I also knew, alcohol, had only helped me to the ICU.

As I was doing this, I’d hear about the lack of change in behaviours and conversations at the office.

That environment, as it had been previously, was more dangerous at this point to me, than any pub/bar/club.

I’d spend weeks/months, working out new tactics to return to work.

Finally accepting, I’d been paddling the wrong way, and wasting energy for years.

Crucially I understood, I’d chosen to drink ALCOHOL.

It had no power over me, and could not play a part in the life of the man I would be, making it irrelevant.

I’d now, only focus on what I wanted in life, and take the necessary action to move towards it.

Life is ironic.

We spent years living in fear, fighting each other, needing control, to the detriment of ourselves and the business.

And in the end, we all lost control.
