What Emotional Needs Aren’t Being Met in Your Life?

This, from experience, is easier said than done when you’re living with serious issues daily.

I don’t write based purely on my own experiences, but also on the experiences of others,

facing or having faced similar issues themselves.

Almost constant stress, high achievers’ anxiety, frustration, insomnia, and the need for mechanisms

to return to balance playing, or having played a major role in all our lives.

Some, as I did, have anger, depression, other issues, and their health.

Unhappy with where they are, but not prepared to make the necessary changes or discuss a way out.

Distracting and/or numbing themselves using alcohol, other substances, or activities to get through it.

It saddens me to witness people projecting happiness when they aren’t truly happy,

and it is becoming increasingly more difficult to do.

Some, as I myself again did, found life had let them down and gave up on it.

To put this in context, my nervous system was shutting down,

I had very little energy available to continue the lifelong battle,

particularly in our business, with my business partners, and in my family life.

I hadn’t given up on life, I had lost interest in it, and had no energy to live it in a meaningful way.

I listened to a friend say –

“At Least I’ll Die with a Smile on my Face”. RIP.

This is how I existed for years, determined not to show the pain and disappointment I lived with.

How long can you allow this to continue?

Until you’ve become seriously unwell, destroyed everything, and ended up in a hospital bed?

Nobody should have to reach this point.

Not when others, like myself, have already been there.

Because we wouldn’t change the way we were thinking and dealing with life.

What could be worth destroying yourself and your โค๏ธ ones over?

Isn’t change a better option?

I get it, sometimes you believe nobody cares, they do.

As high achievers, we often find it impossible to share while we are taking on the responsibility for those around us.

Our understanding of our environment is important to our health and ability to function.

As is the environment itself, something many disregard.

Prolonged Stress, alone, causes illness and inhibits our ability to think.

When you are living under the hormones of stress, adrenaline, and cortisol,

which are catabolic, your brain doesn’t function at capacity.

Your prefrontal cortex will be turned down; it’ll lack coherence, which means you will lack coherence.

When cortisol and adrenaline dominate over time, the body enters a state of chronic sympathetic activation,

the nervous system prioritises survival over everything else.

Memory, decision making, emotional regulation, and immune function are all suppressed.

This isn’t weakness – it is biology doing exactly what it evolved to do,

in a situation it was never designed to sustain indefinitely.

The system isn’t working as one, but because you are a high achiever, you are still able to make the deals

run the business, survive in high-pressure environments, perform at a very high level,

while at the same time, underperforming in life, neuroscience and neurology support this.

Committing to addressing your issues before illness or destroying everything is far easier and less painful.

Quitting alcohol, other substances, or reigning in your activities is a start.

Creating new relationships with yourself and life are crucial to creating sustainable change.

I spent hundreds of hours creating a new life experience and learning about how we work.

I now โค๏ธ life.

How much time do you have?
