The importance of communication, along with acceptance, allowing, and understanding, cannot be emphasised enough. Of course, healthy relationships are highly beneficial and important when it comes to our family, romantic, social, and work.
What about the ones we have with ourselves? Isn’t this the most important relationship that should be healthy? When we accept and understand ourselves, we are better able to accept and understand others, which in turn allows for a better relationship with life.
Addiction of any kind comes with a lack of understanding on both our part and that of the people around us, our loved ones. We use our addiction to change the way we feel as quickly as possible, over time this is what we know and at some point, it can easily be a real issue for us.
We are only able to suppress our emotions for a definite amount of time. Eventually, we will become unwell in some way, be it physically, mentally, more than likely both.
Raising our own levels of self-awareness, means we are better able to communicate with others. Helping us, explain how we feel, and resolve any issues before they become a “problem”.
